Edward Grefenstette is a Franco-American computer scientist, and works as Director of Research at Google DeepMind, and as an Honorary Professor at UCL. Before that, he was a Staff Research Scientist at Deepmind, then RL Area Lead at Facebook AI Research, then Head of Machine Learning at Cohere. These industry roles were following a stint as the Co-Founder and CTO of Dark Blue Labs Ltd., prior to which he was working at the University of Oxford’s Department of Computer Science. He was a Fulford Junior Research Fellow at Somerville College, and is also lectured at Hertford College to students taking Oxford’s new computer science and philosophy course.
