This national service day honors the 20th Anniversary of the lives impacted by the events on September 11, 2001, focused on “Remembrance through Service.” Throughout this month, OneOC is promoting county-wide service projects and toolkits that engage volunteers of all ages, as well as support our veterans, disaster preparedness, food security, etc.The OneOC EVC program is a program that supports emergency response officials throughout Orange County, by engaging and safely deploying these spontaneous volunteers to respond to critical needs and/or long term recovery. The direct food distribution model began during the COVID-19 pandemic when large numbers of households needed food quickly and safely. We work with host sites to provide large scale distributions of food from a Regional Food Bank truck directly to our neighbors in need. Although we have scaled back the number of these distributions, we continue to offer them in areas that lack sufficient pantry capacity to meet neighbors’ food needs.
