The menus are also available in English. My parents are from Suriname, but they never taught me Sranan Tongo. With family, I nodded along to words I didn't have (yet). The language was always there, around me, but never mine. What really struck me: many Surinamese people in the Netherlands don't speak their mother tongue, for different reasons. Partly because they never got the language from home. Often there was a taboo at home on speaking Surinamese to your parents or elders: out of respect, because of the history of slavery, or because parents did this on purpose, hoping their child would learn to speak better Dutch.
