Icon variants are generated locally on your device. VL does not collect, send, or analyze your list of installed apps.
Location permission may be requested only if you choose to enable local weather.
Third-party widgets are optional and kept on their own dedicated Widget Page. They are provided by other applications and follow those applications’ own permissions, privacy policies, and data practices.
Principles
VL is built around useful features, deliberate design choices, and respect for the user. It avoids unnecessary complexity, manipulative design, dark patterns, excessive permissions, inflated subscriptions, and data collection disguised as product improvement.
A launcher is not just another app. It sits at the center of your daily phone use. A launcher can potentially know which apps you have installed, which ones you use, when you open them, how often you open them, and in what order.
You do not have to take VL’s word for it. Check the privacy listing of any well-known Android launcher on Google Play: what data it declares it collects, what permissions it requests, what SDKs it integrates, and what business model it uses.
Free does not always mean free. Many apps monetize through ads, subscriptions, analytics, profiling, external SDKs, or data collection disguised as product improvement. Honest exceptions exist, of course. But in a launcher, privacy matters more than usual.
VL is built independently by an experienced software developer with more than twenty years in technology, software development, cybersecurity, and secure software. That experience shapes the project: fewer unnecessary dependencies, fewer third-party integrations, less exposure surface, and more local control on your device.
VL may be a good fit if you want:
• A clean, calm, and uncluttered Home
• A fast and responsive launcher
• Useful features without unnecessary complexity
• Strong privacy principles
• Customization without bloat
• A paid app that does not try to monetize you again later
VL may not be for you if you want:
• A launcher built around widgets as its main interface
• External icon packs
• Hundreds of advanced customization options
• Complex multi-page Home setups
• Ads in the middle of your drawer or on your home screen
• Predatory subscriptions
VL is built around a simple idea: your launcher should serve you, not exploit you.
