ACR+ is one of the signatories of a letter to the three Belgian regions to congratulate them on their work to develop new packaging measures in anticipation of the EU’s Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR). The broad coalition of signatories, representing environmental organizations, consumer and reuse associations, and local authorities from 17 countries, strongly supports these measures, including:Making producers legally responsible for meeting the EU packaging prevention targets.If targets are missed, producers will have to pay a €50 fee per tonne of excess waste above the target, starting in 2030.This fee would be applied per material type. This will prevent companies from substituting one material for another.Signatories call on EU Member States to follow Belgium’s lead  and implement these measures. Read the letter
