89%Drag your players under the sea for a change! Hidden temples & enemies hide just below the waves, waiting for foolish adventurers to stumble onto the battlemap. Thoughts By popular request, loosely inspired by FFXIV’s Shisui Temple. You could stuff an octopus-mimic-thing in here. (I have never played FFXIV. I just watched a few quick dungeon walkthroughs, haha.) Listen. You don’t need walkways. You’re underwater, you can swim. But you could constrain something to them. Players? sure. But how about cannon-toting crabs that can’t swim, with limited range? Now they get to scuttle around while players have mobility. Alternatively, reverse it. Players get diving suits or magic MacGuffin thing that forces them to walk. Does this make sense? I dunno, maybe. Maybe the “you can breathe” rock you have to carry around is heavy. Alternatively, use the Beach Tide Pool map as a “low tide” situation, and flood the players by swapping to the main variant a minute into the battle! Contents Main: An ocean temple built by mermen — or maybe flooded a century ago! What lurks around its perimeter? Abyssal: The ocean depths is where this bleak & blackened temple lies, illuminated not by sun but only by the soft glow of ancient magic rites. Beach Tide Pools: The water’s drained away! Or maybe it had never risen. The walkways are exposed to air, so you’ll have no problems waging war upon their planks. Bleached: This ocean is poisoned. The coral have died, along with the fish — and soon, you too will perish here! Blood Tide: This isn’t a blood moon. It’s a feeding frenzy. Portal: Someone’s either showing up to kill you, throwing you down here, or kicking you out. Underwater Sun: A mass of incandescant gas — a gigantic nuclear furnace — has sprouted from the seas! Or is imprisoned here. Yeah, the mermaids stole a star. Figure that one out. Day/Night Variants: Where applicable!
