Sleep and well-being in space are heavily challenged as the environment astronauts are exposed to is extreme and unnatural. SAGA Space Architects is sending their specially designed Circadian Light to the international space station to test how dynamic lighting, which simulates natural daylight, can help astronauts. The panel will help Danish astronaut Andreas Mogensen maintain a healthy circadian rhythm and simultaneously stimulate him with varied light in the form of sunrises and sunsets. Through scientific questionnaires and cognitive testing, the experiment will demonstrate how SAGA's circadian light will affect sleep and well-being. As human presence grows in outer space with longer and longer missions, it is extremely important that we bring solutions that can help us not just survive but thrive completely in an otherwise hostile environment.
