Phil Epp was born in 1949, and has been painting for more than 40 years. His work is carried by galleries in Santa Fe, Park City, and Kansas City. Epp has completed large commissioned works for MGM, H&R Block, the American Royal, Sheraton Corporation, the Kansas City Chiefs, Saint Luke’s Health System, the Church of the Resurrection, and countless private collectors. He has been featured in the Kansas City Star, Phoenix Magazine, Southwest Art, and many other publications. Epp’s unique paintings are filled with billowing cloud formations, windswept prairies, and vast deserts. As he states, “They celebrate the naïve, the simple, the pure, the unspoiled and the spiritual.” Epp works mostly in acrylic paint, using up to sixteen layers to achieve the brilliance of his images. His paintings have been purchased by collectors in some 40 states as well as by collectors in Japan and Europe. Epp also works a great deal on outdoor installations, creating monumental pieces in ceramic tile for corporate and civic commissions. One of his signature outdoor works is six massive ''totems'' for city hall in Olathe, KS. Each totem measures 17' x 4' and, when viewed together, create a landscape of unusual depth and brilliance. In 2017 Epp was inducted into the Cowboy Artists Hall of America—a rare honor. In 1986 he was selected as Kansas Governor's Artist, and was featured in the Kansas Governor's Artists Exhibition. In 1996 Nancy Kassebaum hosted an exhibition of his paintings in Washington, DC, then in 1997 he executed six paintings for the National Park Trust. Epp is one of the most successful artists of his generation.
