The national teams in Switzerland comprise of the Men's National Team, Women's National Team, the Youth national teams and the seven-a-side national teams (men and women). There is a total of 11 national teams in SWitzerland. The Swiss Men's XV's National Team beat Germany for the first time in their last official game at the end of February 2020 in history before the Corona pandemic brought game operation on a national level to an end. With this outstanding result, the Swiss team climbed to it's highest-ever World Rugby Men's Ranking of 28th. The Swiss Team finished the last edition of the Rugby Europe Trophy in 2nd place, and will try to repeat its successful performance when the competition re-starts in autumn of 2021. The Swiss Women's XV's National Team currently takes on rank No. 35 in World Rugby Women's Ranking. The team is participating in the Rugby Europe Women's Trophy (2nd European division), and finished in 3rd place in its last edition. The Women's XV's team is about to face Czech Republic, Finland, and Sweden upon restart of the competition. The youth national team squads comprise of the boy's U16-U18-U20 teams and a girl's U18 national team. This is the most important moment in the career of a young player, as talents are detected, and players develop their individual and collective skills. The goal: to integrate players in the Swiss Olympic-approved youth development program of the Swiss Rugby Union, to begin their official journey towards becoming national elite athletes. At the U18 and U20 level, Switzerland further aims to qualify for the Rugby Europe Championships. 7's National Teams Rugby returned to the Olympic program at Rio 2016, when the sevens format provided a captivating showcase for this energetic and thrilling team sport.
