87%Ellen McNair has worked in the economic development field for more than 25 years and was a member of the negotiating teams that brought both Hyundai Motors Corporation and Hyundai Heavy Industries to Montgomery. She has recruited dozens of national and international projects to the state. Prior to the Chamber, Ellen worked for the Alabama Department of Commerce as Project Manager and as Director of Research. She is a graduate of the Economic Development Institute at the University of Oklahoma. While attending graduate school in the Department of Economics at Auburn University, she received a fellowship through the U.S. Department of the Interior. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Auburn University and is a native of Boston, Massachusetts. Ellen has the designation of Certified Economic Developer (CEcD) by the International Economic Development Council. She is a past president of the Economic Development Association of Alabama (EDAA) and is involved in the International Economic Development Council (IEDC). She is the 2014 recipient of the David R. Echols Distinguished Service Award for exemplary achievement in economic development, presented by the Alabama Department of Commerce.
