First things first: our OCN rescue team has been busy with 146 seal rescues this September. The rescuers saved as many animals as possible before the breeding season commences around October and early November. 83 of our September rescues happened within three days during a field trip to the Skeleton Coast National Part in the North. The first day kicked off at Cape Cross, where our committed rescue team successfully disentangled 34 seals from the usual suspects including fishing line, plastic packaging straps and nets. We also found a few seals entangled in something we call "mystery ropes" - we still have no idea where it comes from and what it is used for. On the second day, up in Möwe Bay, the rescuers saved 23 seals, and another 26 seals on the last day at Torra Bay. It was a massive accomplishment for Antoine, Naude, Hawain and Dylan who always give their everything to protect our coastline.
