Fluency is an important literacy skill requiring accuracy and comprehension. Children need to read with expression to show the understanding of the text. Each book provides vocabulary and comprehension questions. There is a map of Australia to track the adventures of Pip and Tim and the places they visit. All words, except the Heart words, can be decoded or ‘sounded out’. To do this, children point to each letter or grapheme, saying the sounds then blending the sounds together to read the word.
