The course is comprised of 12 lessons, including a new module with an overview of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) as it pertains to shooting ranges.

Well it’s the same as the Service Rifle competitions run by the military, and only differs in the fact that we naturally use UK legal civilian firearms and don’t have to wear belt kit and helmet…..unless you want to! Apart from the timings on a few practices, it is for all intents and purposes the same thing. We allow an extra 15 seconds for 200yd sitting and generally anywhere from 45-60 seconds for some of the rundowns, depending on ground conditions, so not too strenuous. The requirements for CSR are a centrefire rifle with the ability to hold a minimum of 10 rounds. More is OK, less isn’t. Competition days are split into two matches, am and pm and alternate monthly between Saturdays and Sundays, so this gives everyone a chance to attend and take part depending on whether they have to work on weekends, go shopping with the other half, decorate etc etc. There are 7 Match days and that makes for 14 competitions, although this season we realized that we could run an extra match on one of the days, thus having 15 matches, with the 10 best results going towards final league positions. All practices are 10rd strings, either rapid or slow fire and the day will usually start off with one set of sighters as the starting distance. The majority of matches are shot from 300-100yds, but also go back to 500 and down to as close as 25yds, depending on the CoF, but they will all include various distances. There are four classes; Historic, Iron Sights, Service Optic and Practical Optic. So if you have an Enfield, an AR15, Remington 700, AI or anything else in between, you probably have the right stuff to take part, and if you don’t then the NRA Armoury has suitable rifles for hire. This course will provide the fundamental skills for taking part in CSR, including individual coaching of positional shooting techniques.
