The Egyptian Company for Natural Gas Distribution to Cities, Town Gas, began its activity in 1979 as the first company working in the field of natural gas delivery in the Arab Republic of Egypt under the umbrella of Petrogas Company, which was separated to be registered as an Egyptian joint stock company subject to the provisions of the Investment Guarantees and Incentives Law No. (8) of 1997, to begin practicing Its actual activity in October 2000 was to provide clean and environmentally safe fuel for use in homes, facilities with commercial and industrial activities, power stations, and car fueling stations in the company’s concession areas in five governorates (Cairo - Giza - Alexandria - Port Said - Ismailia) in fulfillment of the Egyptian state’s plan to switch to alternative fuels.
