Forty million copies have been sold since 1902 and its success led Potter to compose and illustrate a total of 23 books.</p><p>From the adorable antics in <em>The Tale of Squirrel Nutkin</em> to the courage displayed in <em>The Tale of Jemima Puddle-Duck</em>, 12 of Potter’s best-loved stories have been selected for The Heritage Collection. This special edition has been published exclusively for Folio, and each beautifully crafted book features a gold-blocked cloth binding and gilding on all page edges. The exquisite endpapers replicate the binding design of deluxe editions published by Warne in 1903, a patterned calico supplied by Edmund Potter and Company, Beatrix’s paternal grandfather. Finally, the set is presented in a beautiful presentation box lined with the endpaper design and printed with gold lettering.</p>

Peter Beagle is my favorite author, and working with him for the Subterranean Press Edition of The Way Home is a privilege I shall always treasure. From the art direction to the final lettered edition I've had a hand in every stage, and I've been able to work with a variety of artists. I was able to work with one of my favorite binders, Lisa Hersey, of Antler Editions for the lettered edition. I had a marbled paper already chosen (by the incomparable artist Jemma Lewis), and Lisa built upon my vision with suggestions on the leather and cloth. We even were able to add hand-sewn silk endbands, a SubPress first. This edition features: letterpress title pages for the two novellas, printed by DWRI art by Alyssa Winans the limited edition dust jacket art as a gatefold hand-sewn endbands in silk goat leather spine japanese silk enclosure with leather labels and velvet traycase lining marbled paper by Jemma Lewis -Geralyn Lance, Subterranean Press COO Lisa Hersey runs Antler Editions, a bindery in Massachusetts. She graduated from the Montserrat College of Art in 2012, with an award for excellence in her concentration. Lisa bound the lettered edition run of Lincoln’s Dreams, and recently completed The Way Home. First off, tell us a little about Antler Editions. How did you decide upon your bindery name, and what is the history behind your company?Antler Editions started in my parents' basement in 2012! Brown clamshell box with red paper spine-label titled by Raw in gold.  A limitation spread containing an etching by Peter Stuart, hand-printed by the Pauper’s Press, is included at the front and has been signed and numbered by the artist. In this etching, Gulliver stands astride a broken bridge – the link between the vile Yahoo on his right and the noble Houyhnhnm on his left. The illustrator plays with tricks of scale – a giant’s finger and thumb appear to snatch Gulliver, just as he himself holds a tiny figure. The picture’s composition subtly alludes to the famous frontispiece etching in Hobbes’s Leviathan, a major inspiration to Swift. Stuart has also supplied pen-and-ink tail-pieces and 17 tipped-in watercolours printed by Dot Gradations.  Leaf following end of text reads in part ‘limited to one thousand copies, signed and numbered by the artist on the etching, and thirty copies numbered in Roman numerals, which are hors commerce’.
