There are no retroflex consonants in the Teochew language, like sh, tch. The southern Chinese dialects (Cantonese, Hokkien, Wu, Hakka) all don’t have these consonants. But they have a very plentiful and complex vowel system. Over 30 million people speak Teochew dialect. It is primarily spoken at home or between close friends. They speak the Common Chinese (Mandarin) when at school or doing business. This app gives you a taste of the Teochew dialect!
