On 12 August 2026, the moon's shadow sweeps across Greenland, Iceland and northern Spain — the first total solar eclipse over mainland Europe since 1999. Inside a narrow band, day turns to night, stars come out, and the sun's corona blazes around a black moon. A few kilometres outside that band, none of it happens.
Totality tells you precisely which side of that line you are standing on.
POINT YOUR PHONE AT THE SKY
An augmented-reality overlay draws the sun and moon onto the live view in front of you, with their paths, the horizon, and the compass laid over the real sky. You can see exactly where the eclipse will happen before it happens — and pick your spot accordingly.
EXACT TIMES FOR EXACTLY WHERE YOU ARE
Eclipse circumstances are computed for your precise coordinates, not your city:
• First contact, totality begins, maximum, totality ends, last contact — to the second
• How much of the sun is covered, and for how long
• The compass bearing to face, and how high the sun will sit
THE LOW-SUN PROBLEM
Over Spain the sun is only 3–12° above the horizon during totality — nearly setting. A hill, a tree line, or a building in the wrong direction will cost you the entire event. Totality shows you the bearing and the sun's height so you can find a clear horizon in advance, rather than discovering the problem on the day.
WORKS WITH NO SIGNAL
Every calculation runs on your iPhone, offline, from a bundled astronomical ephemeris. In a field in Asturias with no bars, everything still works. This matters: the one moment the app is most needed is the moment you are least likely to have a connection.
NO ACCOUNT NEEDED
Every feature works without signing in — including on eclipse day, with no signal.
FREE, WITH AN OPTIONAL PASS
The countdown, whether the eclipse is total where you stand, the coverage percentage and the AR sky view are free — always. The Eclipse Pass, a single $1.99 payment, unlocks the numbers you need on the day: contact times to the second, how long totality lasts, which way to face, and how high the sun will sit.
ENGLISH AND SPANISH
Fully localized end to end — Spain is in the path.
SAFETY
Never look at the sun without certified ISO 12312-2 eclipse glasses, except during the brief seconds of full totality. Totality helps you plan; it cannot protect your eyes.
