Dextera is a home launcher built for how you actually hold your phone: one hand, one thumb.
Coffee in the other hand, dog leash, groceries — whatever it is, your thumb is on its own. Most launchers pretend you always have two hands free. Dextera doesn't. Page navigation, search, quick scroll, and reachability live in the thumb zone. On tablets, the workspace docks to whichever hand is holding the device.
Public beta — core launcher loop is ready for wider testing. Feedback welcome.
── WHY DEXTERA ──
• Thumb-zone search bar — flick left/right to change pages, hold and drag to scrub through every page
• One search for everything — apps, contacts, settings, files from folders you add, and the web
• A–Z quick-scroll rails on the App List and Contacts so you fly through long lists
• Stay out of your way — your widgets, your pages, your layout
── SEARCH ──
One bar at the bottom of the screen. Instant on-device results for apps, contacts, and settings. Add folders to search local files. Filter with quick category chips. Your place on home stays put while you search.
── PAGES & NAVIGATION ──
• Signature search-bar navigation or traditional page swiping — pick what feels right
• Page overview: pinch home, long-press empty space, or tap the gear on the search bar
• Reorder pages, set wallpapers, and manage widgets from one place
• Custom widget pages with free-form placement, resize, grid presets, and a proper in-app widget picker
── NOTIFICATIONS & MEDIA ──
• Notification center with stacked cards, inline actions, and less system noise
• Pin important apps to the top of your notification list (optional lock so they stay put)
• Media hub on the workspace with gestures and transport controls that stay in reach
── LOOK & FEEL ──
• System wallpaper, pitch black, Bing Daily, built-in catalog, or your own photos (up to 7 saved locally via the system photo picker)
• Per-page wallpapers with smooth crossfades between pages
• GNOME-style dynamic day/night wallpapers (import timed packs)
• Adaptive text contrast so clock and lists stay readable
── TABLETS ──
Landscape split workspace, dock-side reachability, and traditional swiping that works across the canvas — designed for one-handed tablet use too.
── PRIVACY & PERMISSIONS ──
Permissions are optional and tied to features (default home, notifications, contacts, weather, file folders, usage insights). File search uses folder access you choose. Local photos for wallpaper use the system picker — no broad photo library permission required.
── PRO (BETA) ──
Dextera Pro unlocks privacy and power features such as app lock & hide, deeper search tools, and advanced polish. Billing ships after beta; Pro can be unlocked for testing during the public beta.
── NOTES ──
• Replace your default home app to use Dextera fully
