WHAT YOU CAN DO
• Push-to-talk over any DMR master server (BrandMeister, FreeDMR, DMR+ IPSC2, TGIF and other
Homebrew-protocol networks)
• Group calls on talkgroups and private calls to individual operators
• Static and dynamic talkgroups - hold a talkgroup via options, or open TGIF-style dynamic groups on
demand (kerchunk to open, 4000 to unlink)
• Network-aware talkgroups - the list follows the server you pick, with a colour-coded network
badge across the app; favourites and recents are kept per network
• Built-in talkgroup and DMR-ID directories with search, favourites and recents, plus each contact's
country flag beside their callsign; advanced users can point the DMR-ID directory at their own
source instead of the built-in one
• Live activity log with user-selectable columns - see who's talking, their callsign and target, in
real time
• Back up and restore your talkgroups, contacts and servers to a file - survive a reinstall or move
to a new phone
• Multiple connection profiles - switch identities and networks in a tap
MADE FOR REAL OPERATING
• Hold-to-talk or tap-to-talk PTT
• Optional hardware / Bluetooth button binding - bind PTT, and bind Previous and Next to step
through your favourite talkgroups and contacts without looking at the screen (see the
accessibility note below)
• Full D-pad and hardware-remote navigation - every screen, list and dialog works without touching
the screen, useful with a Bluetooth remote, keyboard or radio-mount controller
• Busy-channel lock so you don't key up over someone
• Transmit time-out (TOT) with visual and audio warnings
• Auto-connect and auto-reconnect when the network changes
• Continues running in the background with a clear status notification
• Incoming-call and connection alerts, with sound and vibration options
• Optional position reporting: with your permission, send your Maidenhead grid locator to the
network on connect, and optionally beacon your position to public APRS (off by default)
AUDIO THAT WORKS
• AMBE voice via the on-device MD-380 vocoder (one-time firmware download)
• Automatic gain control, manual RX/TX gain, and a high-pass mic filter
• Key, PTT and end-of-transmission tones
YOURS, PRIVATE BY DESIGN
• Your profiles stay on your device; master-server passwords are encrypted with the Android
Keystore
• No advertising, no analytics SDKs, no crash-reporting SDKs
• Fully localized into 26 languages, including English, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Polish,
Russian, Turkish, Dutch, Portuguese, Hindi, Macedonian and Chinese
ACCESSIBILITY SERVICE (OPTIONAL, OFF BY DEFAULT)
Z3DMR includes an optional accessibility service so a phone volume key can act as your PTT or
channel button while the app is minimized or the screen is off, without changing the media volume.
It detects only the keys you bind in Settings - it does not read screen content, does not record
audio, and collects, stores and shares no data. It receives no accessibility events at all. You
switch it on yourself in Android's Accessibility settings and can turn it off there at any time.
The app is fully usable without it.
IMPORTANT
Z3DMR is a tool for licensed amateur-radio operators. You need a valid amateur-radio licence, a
DMR ID and access to a DMR network to use it. As with all amateur radio, transmissions are not
encrypted and are heard by other operators on the talkgroup - this is how amateur radio works.
