HOW TO PLAY BACKGAMMON? Backgammon is played between two players with 15 checkers each and two dice. The goal is to bring all your checkers into your home board and bear them off before your opponent. On your turn, you roll two dice and move your checkers forward by the numbers rolled. The two numbers can be played with one checker or with two separate checkers. When you roll a double, that number is played four times. A checker cannot be moved to a point held by two or more of the opponent's checkers. If a checker lands on a point where the opponent has a single checker, that checker is hit and sent to the bar. No other checker can be moved until the hit checker re-enters from the opponent's home board. Once all your checkers are in your home board, they are borne off according to the dice. The player who bears off all checkers first wins the game. If the opponent has not borne off any checkers, it is a gammon (mars) and the game counts as 2 points.
