What's For Dinner? A question you can never get rid of, literally. Sometimes, the simplest of things we need to do in our everyday lives can be the most complex and time-consuming. One such thing is managing 'Ghar Ka Khaana'; which is not as simple a concept as it seems and comes with its own challenges. For quite some time now we have been working on a way to solve this problem that troubles so many of us every day. Today, we are very excited to unveil the 'BB Meal Planner' - an app that marries the magic of 'Ghar Ka Khaana' with new-age technology to help you manage your home kitchen better. We believe this can be one of the easiest ways to ensure your family eats meals that are healthier, tastier, and more interesting on a daily basis. It takes just three steps. STEP 1: PLAN The first problem we tried to tackle was to eliminate the painful decision-making process of 'what do we eat today' along with 'what's in my fridge that I can use up'. The minute you sign up on the app, you tell us your, or your family's, dietary and cuisine preferences, allergies, and overall goals. We use this information to uncomplicate your meal planning without asking you to change your diet. You can either choose from several expert-curated weekly meal plans or you can create your own plan from scratch or do a mix of both. You can access more than 500 recipes currently and even filter only those recipes that you can cook immediately based on the ingredients you currently have in your kitchen. You will be able to eat a wide variety of meals with the same base ingredients you consume every day without having to think too much. STEP 2: SHOP We tried to solve this problem with a little bit of automation in order to offer a new paradigm in grocery shopping. As soon as your weekly meals are planned the app will auto-generate your grocery list corresponding to the meals of the week and the number of servings for each meal. You will know the exact quantities of the ingredients you will need to shop for. This will help you avoid food wastage and deliver extra savings week over week. Additionally, the app will help you quickly shop for the items on your list on bigbasket. It will take you less than 10 minutes to both plan and shop for an entire week's worth of meals. STEP 3: COOK The last piece of the puzzle was to simplify all of the above for the person who actually cooks your daily meals (could be you, a family member or domestic help) with minimum intervention required. The app can help you cook a wide variety of dishes through easy-to-follow, step-by-step video instructions. The recipes are thoroughly tested and the steps are sequenced to efficiently use your time in the kitchen. The videos are available in 4 vernacular languages: English, Hindi, Kannada, and Tamil. This can also aid your domestic help to cook dishes they are not familiar with on a daily basis. The app will also send smart reminders when you have to cook meals that require some ingredients to be prepared the night before. We started this journey to design and build a one-of-a-kind tool that can help you provide incredible food to your family every single day.
