Once you know the approximate position of the enemy, approach carefully while avoiding detection. When the target is within torpedo range, switch to the periscope view and enter the required firing data into the T.D.C. The T.D.C. mainly uses the following information: ・Target Bearing The direction of the target relative to your submarine. Aim the periscope at the enemy ship to set the target bearing. ・Target Speed The speed of the enemy vessel. Observe the target to estimate its speed. ・Target Distance The distance between your submarine and the target. ・Angle on Bow The angle of your submarine as seen from the target ship. Use the periscope to observe the target’s heading and set the value as accurately as possible. Once the required information has been entered, the gyro angle needed for the torpedo attack will be calculated. Check the firing data carefully and launch your torpedo at the best possible moment.
