Calcium Sulfate is a dihydrate form of calcium used in food, beverage, and pharmaceutical applications. In baking, it is used in enriched flour, cereals, baking powder, yeast, bread conditioners, cake, and icing. Calcium Sulfate is used in brewing to promote smoother-tasting beer with improved stability, a longer shelf-life, and during certain parts of the fermentation process. It is also a stabilizer, thickener, pH control agent, and tablet binder. The pharmaceutical industry uses calcium sulfate as supplemental calcium in its products.  As an ingredient in personal care products, Calcium Sulfate is used mainly in cosmetics to add viscosity to products without the use of additional oils. It is also and excellent binder for dry cosmetic products. You may find this ingredient in products such as face powder, toothpaste, nail polish, bronzer, blush, facial moisturizer, eye shadow and lip gloss. As an ingredient in vitamin supplements, Calcium Sulfate also referred to as Gypsum, is a great source of calcium which promotes good bone health.  Specifications  Terra Alba Gypsum Calcium Sulfate Dihydrate meets or exceeds the specifications of the Food Chemicals Codex 9th ED. (2014), p.223 and U.S. Pharmacopeia/National Formulary USP37/NF32 (2014) pg. 5889. It is BRC certified and meets requirements of the Food Safety Initiative and the Global Standard for Food Safety.  Characteristics  Terra Alba Calcium Sulfate Dihydrate is a white, solid powder with little to no odor. It is the result of fine-grinding and air-separating a select, high-purity white gypsum with 20% water of crystallization. The solubility level is at .205 (g/100g) of water.
