The U.S. is not an exception. In the U.S., around 150 million tons of food waste are generated annually, with associated costs estimated at 270 billion dollars. Food waste means that a lot of the resources that go into food production get squandered. This means more expensive food, inefficient use of resources, such as water and oil, which all add to global warming.
