Tuhfatul Athfal is a book of nadzom or poetry used to study recitation. This book was written by Shaykh Sulaiman bin Hasan bin Muhammad Al-Jamzuri, one of the scholars from Egypt in the 12th century Hijri. In terms of fiqh, tajwid is a science that studies how to pronounce the letters contained in the Koran correctly. The law of studying tajwid is fardu kifayah or a joint obligation for the face-to-face. Therefore, it is important for Muslims to understand the science of recitation so that they can read the Koran with the correct pronunciation. One of the books used as a reference for studying tajwid is Tuhfatul Athfal or also known as the book of Matan Al-Jamzuriyah. In language, Tuhfatul Athfal means "Children's Hum". This book contains a method of learning tajwid science with poetry that is useful for making it easier for Arabic students to learn how to sound the letters of the Koran. Tuhfatul Athfal is widely used by Muslims in various countries to learn basic principles regarding the science of recitation. This book has 61 verses of poetry arranged with beautiful words. There are many laws of reciting tajwid that Muslims need to learn. All of these reading laws are found in Tuhfatul Athfal in the form of verse verses.
