At the crossroads of poetry and art, Le Bestiaire ou Cortège d’Orphée brings together the pen of Guillaume Apollinaire and the gesture of Miquel Barceló in an exceptional work. This art- ist’s book, conceived as a vibrant tribute to the poet’s imagination, gives birth to an incandescent bestiary, as erudite as it is wild. Miquel Barceló deploys twenty-four original color lithographs, produced at the Atelier Clot, Bramsen & Co in Paris. Folded into triptychs and printed on BFK Rives paper, they form a procession of powerful, organic images, in which each animal becomes the embodiment of a vital force, a symbol, a mystery. The plates, punc- tuated by the artist’s engraved culs-de-lampe, are accompanied by calligraphic titles and texts in his own hand, giving the whole a coherence that is both plastic and poetic. This limited-edition book is housed in a wooden box covered with printed canvas, hot-stamped by Barceló himself. It is the thirty-third entry in the Une rêverie émanée de mes loisirs collection - a total, sensory work that combines the power of line, the memory of words and the spirit of great books.
