Kourtaki Mavrodaphne of Patras is produced using grapes from the foothills near the city of Patras in the North West Peloponnese. Although similar to Madeira and port it is lighter and fruitier. An ideal wine to have as an aperatif or as a dessert wine. A truly remarkable, luscious, full-bodied dessert wine produced from the Mavrodaphni grape which grows in the vineyards overlooking the gulf of Patra.

A tank sample of the 2022 Cotes du Rhone Le Mazet—a 60-40 blend of Syrah and Grenache from a five-hectare parcel of vines outside of Plan de Dieu—looks to be another bargain offering from this resurgent estate, now being managed by the team at Le Clos du Caillou. Co-fermented and matured in a mix of foudres and oak vats, it's a full-bodied wine, rich, velvety and perhaps a bit open-knit, with voluminous notes of black cherries and black olives.
