Parents, are your kids going to outgrow you? Kids, are you going to be taller than your parents or your older brothers and sisters? If so, when will you pass them up? Size Me Up predicts your height at any future age. First, see how you or your kids' height compares to Americans of the same age and gender. Specify the person's current height, current age and gender to get his or her "percentile ranking." The percentile ranking shows how the person sizes up to others. For example, a 10-year-old boy who is 4ft 9in is at the 82nd percentile. This means that he is taller than 82% of all 10-year-old boys and shorter than the remaining 18%. Next, touch "Future Size Me" to predict height at any age in the future. Move the future age slider to watch the person grow from their current height to an estimate of their maximum height. There are numerous methods for predicting future height. Some use parent height, but this method is quite unreliable. It's not hard to find a family with children of very different sizes. Size Me Up uses the fact that kids tend to stay very close to the same growth curve to predict future height based on their current height, age, gender and growth chart data. The app uses the latest publicly available growth chart data from the United States Centers for Disease Control (CDC). NOTE: The CDC data only shows percentile ranking between 3%-97%. If a child is VERY TALL or VERY SHORT for his or her age, DON'T BUY THIS APP, IT WON'T WORK FOR THEM. Children go through growth spurts, but most children, NOT ALL, stay close to the same growth curve over time. Using Size Me Up just before or after a growth spurt will give inaccurate results. (As will looking back at an old health report to see how accurate the app is). Using the app periodically over a year will give a good indication of where a child falls on the growth charts and will give a more accurate prediction of future height. Remember this is just a prediction based on the US CDC growth chart data, your mileage may vary.
