Body mass index (BMI) is a measure of body fat based on height and weight that applies to adult men and women. BMI or Body Mass Index is a method of estimating a person's body fat levels based on a person's weight and height measurement. While the BMI calculation is an indirect measurement, it has been found to be a fairly reliable indicator of body fat measures in most people.
