The Caterpillar Comm Adapter 3 is a diagnostic scanner interface. It is a CAT group dealer workshop diagnostic tool designed to work with Caterpillar heavy vehicles and engines. It is the most recent generation of the CAT Comm Adapter KIT. It replaces the previous adapter version(CAT COMM ADAPTER KIT II).  The older part numbers for the Cat com 3 adapter are 466-6258 and 317-7487.
