Scrive Arturo Cirillo: «La mia passione per il personaggio di Don Giovanni, e per il suo inseparabile alter ego Sganarello, nasce all’inizio soprattutto dalla frequentazione dell’opera di Mozart/Da Ponte. Negli anni successivi tra i miei autori prediletti si è imposto decisamente Molière, quindi mi è parso naturale lavorare su una drammaturgia che riguardasse sia il testo di Molière, appunto, che il libretto di Da Ponte. Anche il discorso musicale mi coinvolge, e quindi ho deciso di raccontare questo mito, che è Don Giovanni, usando forme e codici diversi, conservando di Molière la sua capacità di lavorare su un comico paradossale e ossessivo, e di Da Ponte la poesia e la leggerezza, a volte anche una “drammatica leggerezza”. Poi c’è la musica di Mozart che di questa vicenda riesce a raccontare sia la grazia che la tragedia ineluttabile.
