Many of the dwarf gouramis that are very popular among aquarists are aquacultured variants of the same species, Colisa lalia (also known as Trichogaster lalius in some references). The "natural" fish in the wild is light metallic blue with thin red vertical stripes. The Powder Blue Dwarf Gourami is close to the "natural" variant - light metallic blue with red trim on its fins and broken red stripes throughout its body - though the red coloration isn't as strong in this variant and may even be nearly absent on the body.
