92%Jak poznat bolid a jak vyplnit formulář hlášení bolidů Pokud člověk uvidí na obloze něco pro něj neznámého nebo zvláštního, nemusí to znamenat, že šlo o přelet jasného meteoru, tzv. bolidu. Na obloze létá spousta objektů, které vytvořil člověk. V noci může jít o letadla, vesmírné družice, pyrotechniku a nebo lampiony štěstí, ve dne převážně o letadla vhodně nasvícená Sluncem. Ve většině případů lze použít jednoduché vodítko na odlišení bolidu a to je čas trvání. Bolidy většinou trvají pouze jednotky sekund. Jen výjimečně trvání bolidu přesáhne 10 sekund, což nastává ve chvíli, kdy je geometrie střetu meteoru se Zemí taková, že se meteor pohybuje k povrchu země pod velmi malým sklonem. Oproti kratšímu trvání bolidů bývají letadla nebo družice pozorovatelná několik desítek sekund až jednotek minut. Pravidelné blikání letadel je navíc jev, který u bolidů nepozorujeme. U bolidů sice může dojít k náhlým zjasněním, není ale tak pravidelné. V dnešní době také lidé často pozorují tzv. satelity Starlink, což je skupina několika desítek jednotlivých satelitů, které letí v řadě za sebou. Jejich jasnost je vzájemně velmi podobná a vzájemná vzdálenost závisí převážně na jejich stáří na oběžné dráze. Jejich pohyb po obloze je ale velmi pomalý a trvá i několik minut. The prize celebrates the collaborative effort to establish the Brout-Englert-Higgs mechanism of spontaneous electroweak symmetry breaking, test the Standard Model with remarkable precision, uncover rare and exotic particle interactions, and search for new physics phenomena that could reshape our understanding of the universe. Through the CERN & Society Foundation, the prize will fund PhD scholarships to support the next generation of ATLAS scientists as they build on this legacy of discovery. “The Breakthrough Prize is a testament to the dedication and ingenuity of the ATLAS Collaboration and our colleagues across the LHC experiments,” says Stephane Willocq, ATLAS Spokesperson (University of Massachusetts Amherst). “In particular, Run 2 was a transformative period for particle physics. The results we achieved with its dataset have deepened our understanding of the Higgs boson, the Standard Model and the fundamental symmetries of Nature.” Probing new frontiers with Run 2 Let’s turn back the clock to 2012, when the ATLAS and CMS Collaborations announced the discovery of a brand-new particle: the Higgs boson.
