ACU's Summit (formerly Lectureship), held on the campus of Abilene Christian University, is designed to offer spiritual renewal, enrichment, and fellowship. The theme for this 117th year is “Holy Discomfort: Our Journey toward God.”This year, Summit will focus around specific leadership groups—adult formation, children’s ministry, Hispanic ministry, missions, preaching, and small churches—in an effort to engage with God, with one another, and with material designed to equip one for effective service. We will also host a general interest group, open to everyone, that will explore Jesus’s final journey to Jerusalem as found in the Gospel of Luke. As part of Summit, noted theologian and author, Rev. Esau McCaulley, Ph.D., will lead our Anchor Point plenary session where he will discuss what one person’s struggle teaches us about each other as expressed in his new book How Far to the Promised Land. In addition to the thought-provoking words of McCaulley, we will spend time enjoying a meal together and lifting our voices in praise to God with worship led by Stephen Maxwell from Memorial Road Church of Christ (Edmond, Oklahoma).
