Policy and Progress in Oregon's High Desert Dear desert advocates, Many of us spend a lot of time thinking about the climate crisis and how we can support progress on this defining issue of our era. Renewable Energy in Oregon's High Desert Climate change is an overriding threat to the health and resilience of desert ecosystems, and ONDA recognizes that developing renewable energy resources is key to supporting Oregon’s high desert to adapt and thrive in this new reality. In fact Oregon’s high desert could—and should—support renewable energy development, but only where it won’t affect wildlife, wildlands, cultural resources and other values. Last month, ONDA engaged in a major effort that will decide where development might be appropriate on Oregon’s desert public lands. Renewable energy development can be complex and controversial.
