Here for sale we have a PRS CE 24 electric guitar in Royal Blue finish which has faded significantly over the years. Made in the USA in 1993, the original CE was introduced in 1988 and offered players PRS design and quality with the added snap and sparkle of traditional bolt-on guitars. This bolt-on construction comprises a Mahogany body topped with a Flamed Maple top, Maple neck and 24 fret Rosewood fingerboard. Nickel hardware is fitted, including a PRS Patented6-point vintage-style Tremolo and PRS designed Locking Tuners. A pair of PRS humbucking pickups are installed, with an HFS in the bridge and a Vintage in the neck. These are wired to a 5-way rotary switch, master volume and master tone controls. The Maple neck plays exceptionally well, with the 'Wide Thin' profile filling the hand nicely without being at all cumbersome. Certainly, the profile is thick enough to sustain a firm grip when chord playing whilst remaining slim enough for fast articulate melodic lines. The Rosewood fingerboard is pleasant under the fingers, and with its 10" radius is practical for a wide range of styles and techniques. The smooth gloss finish to the rear of the neck assists with navigation of the 25" scale, whilst the double cutaway design with signature PRS chamfered horn ensures unobstructed access to the upper register for soloing. Amplified, the pair of PRS humbucking pickups deliver plenty of grunt and character, with the 5-way switching delivering a wide range of tones appropriate for many genres and playing styles. The HFS in the bridge is nice and hot, with a powerful output that can easily drive your amp into a saturated distortion for rock rhythm parts and riffs. Indeed, 'HFS' stands for Hot, Fat & Screams! The Vintage humbucker in the neck is of course rounder, producing a smooth and clear tone for solos and lead lines, as well as a crystalline, glassy clean tone.
