100%The Town of Ferrisburgh comprises roughly 61 square miles or 39,000 acres of land in the Lake Champlain Valley. It is ranked as Vermont's ninth largest town in area. Like much of the Champlain Valley, the town's landscape is generally flat to rolling, with hilly areas, fine forestlands and extensive areas of excellent, productive agricultural soils. Ferrisburgh is well watered by the Lewis, Little Otter, Dead and Otter Creeks; it also has large areas of ecologically significant wetlands. Ferrisburgh enjoys the longest shoreline frontage of any Vermont town bordering Lake Champlain, 21 miles. Founded in 1762, Ferrisburgh has a rich history, which is celebrated in our nationally renowned museums, the Lake Champlain Maritime Museum and the Rokeby Museum. Many of the earliest European settlers still have descendants living and working in town or in neighboring communities. Today the town has 2775 residents, plus a larger population of families with summer homes on the lake. Most employment lies in the cities of Burlington,15 miles north, Middlebury,15 miles south, and Vergennes, a small vibrant town/city (population 2670) carved out of Ferrisburgh in 1783. There are still 28 operating dairy farms in Ferrisburgh, several of which are certified organic, other diversified farm businesses and some maple syrup production. Our K-6 grade school, is one of the best in the State, with teacher awards and innovative programs in science, healthy lunch programs, alternative energy, composting and recycling. Ferrisburgh is a quiet town in many ways, with hardworking people who meet each year at Town Meeting to vote on budgets and share stories of the past year with friends and neighbors. 64%The Tumbler Ridge Golf & Country Club offers a blend of rugged northern scenery and challenging play that guarantees an unforgettable golfing experience.Nestled in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, our 9-hole, fully irrigated golf course is cut from thick, forested terrain high above the Murray River. Continuous gentle breezes, natural slopes, undulating fairways, and water hazards add to the challenge. Most of the bent grass greens have elevated approaches and well-placed sand traps guarding them. Putting requires careful study, thanks to the subtle and not-so-subtle undulations of the greens. Our 9th hole is a challenging 405 yards, which plays up a two-level fairway to an elevated green. You will probably want to play 18 holes. When you finish, we invite you to enjoy a meal or refreshment in our spacious full-service Club House restaurant. You can also enjoy the beautiful setting on the patio overlooking Holes 1 and 9. All of your golfing needs can be met in our Pro Shop, and you can use our driving range and putting green to improve your game. Must be 19+ to rent a golf cart.
