84%Imagine moving to the Caribbean to begin your life as a student. Armored with a passion for animals and ready to learn all you can about veterinary health. Then, suddenly, you start to experience episodes of syncope (the fancy word for fainting). That was the reality for Leaya (pronounced “Lee-UH”). Living in Grenada was also my first time living outside of the United States for an extended period of time and in a warm climate. Within my first month there I started having once or twice a week syncope (fainting) or pre-syncopal (near fainting) episodes and I didn’t know why. I also have glaucoma, migraines, GERD, arthritis, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS), adrenal insufficiency, vocal cord dysfunction, severe allergic asthma, sciatica, ADD, and a few mental health diagnoses. Holy cow, Leaya! I was one of the fortunate ones that received my POTS diagnosis early in my adult life at 24. The first cardi
