This fosters friendships formed during camp and includes social activities like hikes, movie or pizza/game nights, and physically engaging activities like trampoline parks and Club Attaway is a program that brings campers together outside of camp to renew and strengthen friendships made at camp. This programming is an extension of our therapeutic summer program that was created at the request of Attaway families who shared with us their wish for Attaway programming during the school year. Attaway’s kids come from many different schools and often don’t get the chance to see each other during the school year. Club Attaway provides them with the opportunity to come together and stay connected while having fun and maintaining the friendships they made. Activities vary, but can include outdoor movie nights, pizza party game nights, and other community adventures like indoor trampoline parks, climbing gyms, and bowling. Campers and parents agree that one of the biggest benefits of Camp is being able to make friends! For many of our campers, Attaway is where they make their first friend. Club Attaway allows these friendships to blossom during the school year. “What was most beneficial at Camp Attaway is my child making friends, being able to be herself while learning positive ways to cope with situations, and her not feeling so alone with her disabilities that she faces.” ~ Parent “Connecting with children like him, knowing that your child is with people who understand his needs.
