in 1997, nancy and art stone, the owners of art stone/the competitor, decided to launch a new dance competition. the result was international dance challenge (idc) known by its slogan “setting the global standard in dance competitions.” idc held its first (2) competitions in anaheim, california and ft. lauderdale, florida on january 10, 1998. although small in the beginning, news of idc’s reputation for being a fair, well-organized and fair competition soon traveled throughout the country. since its inception, attendance and participation in international dance challenge competitions have quadrupled and continue to increase yearly.
