House Administration Committee Chairman Bryan Steil (R-WI) unveiled the Make Elections Great Again (MEGA) Act, a comprehensive election reform package that imposes baseline federal standards for national elections.   Building on key elements of the Safeguarding American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act led by Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX), the bill mandates proof of citizenship for first-time voter registration, requires photo ID to cast ballots in federal elections, bans ranked-choice voting in federal races, requires auditable paper ballots, strengthens voter roll maintenance, and overhauls mail-in voting by prohibiting universal mail ballots, requiring ballots to be received by Election Day, and banning third-party ballot harvesting.
