Historic Montana is a free mobile app to help you discover Montana’s rich cultural resources. Curated by the Montana Historical Society, Historic Montana shares the history and architecture of selected buildings, neighborhoods, and cultural sites listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the nation's official list of cultural resources deemed worthy of preservation. The app’s mobile markers reproduce National Register signs placed at the sites themselves as part of a program, funded through the state’s accommodations tax, to improve public knowledge and promote historic preservation.

FISHES OF MONTANA is a collaborative effort between Montana State University's Department of Ecology, Montana Fish Wildlife & Parks, and MountainWorks Software. FISHES OF MONTANA provides an easy-to-use visual reference and interactive keys to the 90 species known to be found in the waters of Montana, and 10 Aquatic Invasive Species that we wish to keep out of Montana. A user can identify a fish visually by browsing through images of fish, search by name and family, or by using identifying characteristics such as fin structure, location of mouth, or geographical location. Each species is profiled to include images of the fish, range maps for both Montana and the U.S., preferred habitat, adult size, appearance, life history, similar species, and more!
