Cupping (or cup-testing) is a coffee tasting method used in the coffee industry. It is performed all over the world according to uniform standards and specific protocols. The main purpose of cupping is to reveal the profile of the coffee. To achieve this, coffee is brewed in a universal way: ground coffee beans are placed in a glass, poured with hot water and left to steep undisturbed for four minutes. This method allows the coffee's flavor and aroma to fully develop. Cuppings are held at all stages of the coffee selection process, from the farm to the coffee shop. It is also an effective method for tasting and comparing several lots simultaneously. Baristas attend cuppings to gain insight into the potential of coffee beans and how to work better with a particular one. Those new to coffee attend cuppings to gain a deeper understanding of their preferences and to identify their preferred coffee origins. This is why we have developed a user-friendly and intuitive application with forms to fill in all characteristics according to world standards. It stores all the data so you can always go back and find something you like.

Beansy

Beansy is both a social network and a cupping app designed by coffee professionals for farmers, exporters, importers, roasters, baristas and scientists. Each user can create and share coffee lots, schedule cupping sessions, invite colleagues and track individual cuppings scores as well as global statistics. ADD NEW LOT function enables a user to add data about lot origin, botanic variety, processing method, name of producer, farm and etc. Each user can SCHEDULE A CUPPING SESSION and invite other users to cup specific lots together. QUICK START is a special function to cup first and add data about each lot later. Users can SHARE user PROFILES, LOTS, SESSIONS AND CUPPING RESULTS. The app KEEPS USER’S INDIVIDUAL CUPPING SCORES and TRACKS GLOBAL CUPPING STATISTICS for each lot (overall and by roles: farmers, exporters, importers, roasters, baristas and scientists). BEANSY INTERACTIVE CUPPING FORM is designed to evaluate coffee in both Beansy, CQI (Q) and Oi scores. Unlike CQI cupping form, BEANSY form EVALUATES SWEETNESS and CLEAN CUP parameters in the range from 6 to 10, just like aroma, flavor, acidity, aftertaste, body and overall impression. Due to this Beansy score is a better instrument to differentiate coffee lots with similar acidity into various quality categories. The algorithm automatically converts Beansy into Q score and shows both for user’s reference. Oi is the overall intensity of the coffee, calculated as a sum of all intensity scales. Beansy is the first cupping app with a colorful intuitive design, which helps beginners navigate in the world of professional coffee evaluation.
