Joining the Benchmark collection from the independent bottler Murray McDavid, this single malt whisky from Glenlossie was distilled in 2008 and has undergone 14 years of maturation. Initially aged in bourbon hogsheads, it then spent nearly four years finishing in French oak barriques that previously held sweet Sauternes wine from Bordeaux. The aroma reveals vibrant layers of mango and pineapple, accompanied by drizzles of honey and floral citrus blossom. On the palate, one can detect zesty, oily notes of citrus peels, complemented by tropical hints of banana and melon, with a touch of cinnamon. The finish is warming, with lingering baking spices, mellow buttery oak, and caramel.
