DC Historic Sites is based on the DC Inventory of Historic Sites, the city's official list of properties deemed worthy of recognition and protection for their contribution to the cultural heritage of the city, the nation’s capital, and the nation.
DC Historic Sites was developed by the DC Preservation League, Washington's only citywide nonprofit dedicated to the preservation, protection and enhancement of the historic resources of our nation's capital. www.dcpreservation.org

Planning a visit to Jamestown Settlement? Be sure to check out our interactive tours! Engage with youth or adult tours in the galleries, or a living history area tour to learn more about English, Powhatan, and West Central African cultures, which came together and sometimes clashed in early Virginia.
Visitors scan artifact markers located throughout the galleries to learn more about an artifact and the culture that produced it. Then they step outside to explore living history in re-creations of a Powhatan Town, English ships, and James fort. iBeacons located throughout the living history area guide the experience and build on the stories told by costumed historical interpreters.
