BatApp is a simple yet powerful tool for collecting batting speed data without expensive and cumbersome radar equipment. This app provides ball Exit Velocity (EV) and Launch Angle (LA), which is very useful for batting skill development. The innovative user interface allows using the app anywhere - all you need is a line of sight to home plate and the field. The exit velocity error for softball usage is less than 1 mph for a 12” circumference softball and less than 0.5 mph for an 11” ball. Accuracy While the data model is accurate within ±2 mph and ±2 degrees in over 80% of the time, some conditions such as wind or ball spin may cause deviations beyond these limits. Timing error of 0.2 s translates to about 3 mph and 3 degrees of error and ball drop location error of 10 ft translates to about 3 mph and 1 degrees of error on a typical 200 ft hit.
