Buddy Check On Me lets you include others in your day with simple check-ins — no app needed on their end. Whether you're heading out for a walk, working late, or just want someone to be aware, you can set a check-in timer and we'll notify your buddy by SMS if you don’t check back in. You can choose between two modes: Private Mode: Buddies are only alerted if you don’t stop the timer before it runs out. Ideal for low-key check-ins. Sharing Mode: Buddies are notified when you start, extend, complete, cancel, or go over time — and they can even follow your location if you choose to share it. Buddies who receive an SMS will get a secure link to view the check-in details, including title, description, and location (if shared). In Private Mode, location is only shown if you go over time. You can view a history of your past check-ins on your device, including durations, buddy participation, and actions taken. Privacy & Data Handling: When there’s no active check-in, the system only retains usernames, buddy relationships, and one-way encrypted phone numbers. Active check-ins store phone numbers temporarily to send SMS, then delete them 24 hours after the timer is completed or canceled. If a timer runs out and no buddy acknowledges the alert, the event is securely retained for 30 days to allow time for follow-up.
