Phonic is an educational game that helps you learn English pronunciation and phonetics in an entertaining way. Both British and American English pronunciations can be practiced. In the game you are presented with an English word and you have to guess its pronunciation using IPA (International Phonetics Alphabet) symbols. The words are divided into levels of increasing complexity. For each word it is possible to read its definition, listen to its pronunciation or receive a hint to correct a wrong phoneme. Beware, using the aids will decrease your score! About 1000 common English words can be played in the free version of the application. An upgraded version can be purchased that adds 5000 more words to play and removes all advertisements. Phonic is aimed at English as a Second Language (ESL) learners and can be a useful tool for preparing for exams such as IELTS, TOEFL, Cambridge B2 First and similar.
