Queens are still available late-May to September. These are not on medium frame they are on DEEP frames, usually overgrown loaded with bees, honey and burr comb. So many bees they are likely to swarm if left in this box for for more than 2 weeks. We are now a part of an initiative with both Purdue and Penn State Universities breeding bees that bite the legs off of the varroa mites which have been plaguing them. We believe happy hardy honeybees are the future. Purdue Mite-biters , or Mite-maulers they are dealer's choice on these. Honey production tends to be over 120 pounds, and overwintering in larger clusters. They are very hygienic showing brood removal when we test them using UBO or Buchler (pin-killed brood) assays.
