The Tät®-m app is intended to support men with pelvic floor exercises in cases where these kinds of exercises have been recommended by medical staff. Urinary leakage upon coughing, jumping or sneezing – stress urinary incontinence – is common after an operation for prostate cancer (radical prostatectomy). It is recommended that pelvic floor exercises start before the operation is performed, and that the exercises continue after the operation. The Tät®-m app facilitates this training and is recommended by physicians and urotherapists.
COLLABORATION WITH THE SWEDISH PROSTATE CANCER FEDERATION
The app contains information about the Swedish Prostate Cancer Federation, which advocates for greater knowledge about prostate cancer and better prostate cancer care.
THE EXERCISES
The Tät®-m app contains four types of contractions and twelve exercises with increasing levels of intensity and difficulty.
Train for a couple of minutes at a time, three times a day.
Tät®-m helps you along with clear guidance in the form of graphics, sounds and reminders.
Stay motivated with statistics and feedback that are based on the training goals you set.
The app also includes information about the pelvic floor, urinary leakage, and lifestyle factors that may affect symptoms. There is information about surgery and radiation therapy for prostate cancer.
RESULTS FROM RESEARCH
Studies have shown that urinary leakage problems after a radical prostatectomy can decrease more rapidly with the help of pelvic floor exercises before and after surgery. The Tät®-m app– previously Tät®III - is developed by doctors and researchers at Umeå university. A study from Umeå University showed that the Tät®-m app facilitates pelvic floor exercises.
